On thursday I am having all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. 2 are simple extractions because teeth came through. Other 2 are impacted. also having another tooth removed that broke so I can have a dental bridge. Is this all realy painful. I am due back to work on saturday. Shoul I be able to go?
Wisdom teeht extraction.?
I just had all 4 of mine removed a year ago and 2 of them were impacted as well. It's definitely not a fun time, but it really isn't horrible. It is painful, especially once the anesthesia has worn off. It gets progressively better though. I'd say the first 2 days you'll probably be a mess, but by Saturday you should be fine for work. Maybe some minor aching and swelling left, but I think you'll be good by then.
Goodluck! You'll be fine! :o)
Reply:i got two pulled out ... they put me under sedation... i was kinda out of it for two days or so... my mouth was sore and talking prevailed a little problem for a few days... good luck with that
Reply:You will probably be unconscious during the operation so you will not feel much pain. There will be some soreness afterwards. Yes, you should be able to go to work on Saturday but you will still have to be on top of your rinsing and antibiotics. No straws!!!
Reply:People react differently. I had all 4 of mine out too, and all 4 were impacted. I probably would not have been ready to go back to work/school that quickly, personally, especially because I was on pain killers that made me a bit woozy. It's not super painful... but it's pretty achy i would say, and you'll feel a lot better if you just give yourself time to rest. I ate ice cream and pudding and watched movies for a few days. But I also know some people that were ready to go back to work in 2 days. It prob took me about 3-4 days to recover.
Reply:You will need some pain medication for several days. Be sure to tell your dentist/oral surgeon about your work requirements so he will be sure to prescribe the proper medication for you. You shouldn't have a problem with working Saturday unless your work requires a lot of talking.
Reply:Hi, I'm a dentist.
The first question I would ask you is your age. If you are younger than 25, you would probably be ok to go back to work in a few days. If you're older than 25, expect to be out for a week or more. The body takes longer to heal as you get older.
You should feel no pain during the extractions. You will be anesthetized and possibly put to sleep as well. Post-operatively, however, you will feel some discomfort for a week or more. You'll likely be given a script for pain meds to help with that problem.
Hope that helps.
Reply:Depends on how you react to surgery and how demanding your work is.
It would be best if you had the weekend off. But you mileage may vary.
