MRI is to find source of numbness in hands (occasional) especially after taking shower (yeah, I know, 'weird').
About to have MRI of neck, I have dental bridges and a cardiac stent, expect any problems?
No but do let the technician know.
Reply:No actually it isn't weird.
And no, you shouldn't have any problems.
The metals used today usually don't cause problems with the MRI machines, especially when they aren't in the area being imaged.
Reply:I assume your doctor knows your medical history %26amp; wouldn't have ordered it if he thought there would be problems. I would want to know what's causing this problem ASAP.
Reply:Well I work in a hospital %26amp; I just had a guy come to my office saying they would not give him one w/o the serial %26amp; model# of the stent, so that may be an issue. The bridges you have will not be a problem.
BUT you should be ok. They should have given you a card with that info, so you may want to take that just incase.
Reply:Shouldn't you ask your damned doctor this question if you think it's a concern rather than a group of people on the internet?
I would suggest asking your doctor first, if you already have, then I would question as to whether or not you really trust your doctor if you had to get a second opinion over the internet. If there's a trust issue pray that he doesn't read this and take offense. You may not survive the next operation...
Reply:You should have no problems with the MRI. Just be really certain they have to do any surgery--I had a fusion of my cervical spine (neck) 5 months ago and they messed up my thoratic-laryngeal nerve (that's the one connected to your vocal cords)-for 2 months I had no voice at all, even now I sound like I have a really bad sore throat. Very hoarse and hard to hear. By the way, the numbness in my hands and pain in my shoulder were not corrected by the surgery--have they checked for carpal tunnel syndrome?
