advanced for a dental hygenist. Do any dentists have an opinion about this?

in canada and most USA states its illegal for an hygenist to do the impression for a bridge.

Its probably accurate, tought, so you should not worry too much about the quality of the bridge.. the dentist probably took a look at the impression, so did the lab technician, so if there would be a problem, they would have known.,.. also the dentist will try it to see if it does fit well before finioshing the bridge.

Take care.
Reply:That's funny, because that's what a hygienist did on my teeth in Ohio. She did the impression for my bridge and the Dentist did not stay in the room.
Reply:The approved duties of dental hygienists are designated in the state dental practice act. You may be able to get online information from the state dental board.

That's the legal issue. The clinical issue is whether the hygienist is competent to take an impression, and if he/she was properly trained I see no reason why it cannot be done. That's a pretty big "if" though.

Reply:It is illegal for anyone other than a dentist to take a final impression for anything...the dentist should have taken the impression. That dentist can get in some trouble for allowing a hygienist to take that impression.
