Are dental bridges only temporary and a waste of time and money?

My friend's is causing her misery as it falls out regularly. Anyone with the same problem ? She was told it lasts but it fell out after just 4 weeks and again and again. She's scared one day she will just swallow it. She can't afford an implant now as her bridge has cost her enough already . Any solution apart from throwing it away ? Dentists out there, help! Thanks.

I am 56 years old. I have some patients in the practice who had bridges made before I was born and they are still serving quite well. There is something wrong with your friend's bridge. Maybe there was not enough tooth structure to work with in the first place or maybe the dentist is just plain not that good, but we will never know that here on Yahoo!

A good bridge might need to be recemented once or twice in a lifetime (assuming nothing goes wrong with the teeth under the bridge), but not once or twice a month.
Reply:Ask for a replacement . or better yet change your dentist.. there is something wrong with the job if its falling, no need to elaborate.its brigde right? not a removable?. it will keep on falling.. a new dentist will do the works and of course a new bridge.tell the new dentist the problem.
Reply:The situation described is not at all normal. It seems to be a case of bridgework not done well either due to slackness of dentist or equally possible that inferior quality cement was used that failed. It would be gracious of your friend to give dentist a chance to rectify the problem and justify his honesty, as not all failures can be attributed to the dentist.
